Tortoreto’s traditional cuisine is as vast and varied as its territory. On the coast, the cuisine is closely linked to seafaring activities, here we will find typical  fish dishes and seafood , spaghetti with clams, roasted fish, the wonderful fries and you can also taste the typical local dish, or the famous mixed fish soup called Brodetto di Pesce. Moving towards the hill, we find simple and tasteful dishes linked to the agricultural tradition, then products of the earth,  meat  and excellent local wines.

Typical dish of the area are the lamb mazzarelle cooked in the oven and flavored with spices. Pork is also widely used in traditional cuisine, especially in winter it is prepared roasted, boiled, fried or baked. Aged cheeses such as pecorino, extra virgin olive oil, cured meats and vegetables are just some of the excellent local products that you can taste in Tortoreto, together with a good glass of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo wine, excellence in the international arena or for white lovers a lovely fresh Trebbiano suitable for fish dishes.

In Tortoreto, and in the Abruzzo region in general, every holiday of the year is linked to particular homemade desserts, such as Christmas footballs and Easter pizza, excellent to accompany with a good Montepulciano or a Cerasuolo, a cherry-colored wine, fresh and fragrant.
