A journey through history
Tortoreto Alto – Mosciano – Teramo
Auto: 40 minutes
Moto: 40 minutes
Bike: 2 hours and 30 minutes

Distance 40 Km – Duration 1 day

From Tortoreto Lido, in a few minutes, you can reach the wonderful village of  Tortoreto Alto (227 meters above sea level), our splendid “terrace overlooking the sea”, characterized by suggestive squares and medieval alleys. < br /> Here it is possible to rediscover the ancient soul of our places by visiting the beautiful Villa Patrizia, recently brought to light, or the seventeenth-century Monastery of S. Agostino set in the secular atmosphere of its shady alleys. Along the characteristic streets of the village, with its neighboring houses and stone arches, it is also possible to admire the magnificent Clock Tower and the remains of the walls of the ancient fortress.

Following the SP10 we arrive at  Mosciano Sant’Angelo, another ancient medieval village located on a hill a few km from the coast and from which you can admire a beautiful panorama that ranges from the Adriatic Sea to Gran Sasso mountain range.
Here it is worth visiting the Monastery of Santi Sette Fratelli from the 9th century and the adjacent Sanctuary of Santa Maria degli Angeli surmounted by a magnificent wooden ceiling dating back to the 17th century.
To see it is also the Acquaviva Tower, built in 1397 at the behest of the Acquaviva and still in perfect condition. The tower was once used as a lookout point, but today it is the bell tower of the Church of San Michele Arcangelo.

From Mosciano, through the Teramo-Mare highway, we reach the city of  Teramo, here it is possible to admire important remains of the Roman and medieval period. Urban villas, precious mosaics, thermal pools, frescoes and a Hellenistic necropolis are just some of the evidence of the long and ancient history of this splendid city.
Among the most representative monuments of Termo we find the Cathedral of San Berardo built in 1158 and enlarged in the 1300s and the Roman Amphitheater and the Theater dating back to the Augustan Age and largely preserved.
